The Bahia Point launch area is located within San Diego (Mission Beach) city limits on the South West side of Mission Bay. Popular because of it's location in the middle of the bay and proximity to great fishing this kayak launch also has the bonus of clean bathrooms. The area directly north of the bathrooms is usually taken by shore anglers but excellent launching on the south side of the restrooms and the north end of the point.

Fishing Description

There are multiple locations to fish from this launch site. Padding directly south to the flats between the Ingraham and West Mission Bay Drive bridges produce excellent spotted bay bass fishing in the summer. The eel grass beds behind Bahia Point (west side) and the docks are also excellent targets for big spotties. A mix of sand bass are also found in these areas and calico bass have been caught here as well. Halibut are common off the sandy point and on the flats between Bahia and Vacation Island.
